How to use an AI interview assistant without sabotaging yourself

Published August 25, 2026 · CareerPilot

Practical guidance on using CareerPilot and similar tools as a prompt for your own voice — not a script to read — while staying within acceptable-use and employer policies.

AI interview copilots are controversial. The productive stance is simple: use them the way strong candidates use notes — as a private prompt, not a teleprompter you recite word-for-word.

What good use looks like

  • Glance at structure (STAR bullets, complexity notes), then speak in your own words.
  • Keep answers consistent with the resume you uploaded and the work you actually did.
  • Practice with the tool in mock rounds so you are not discovering latency on a real final.

What to avoid

  • Reading long paragraphs out loud — interviewers notice cadence changes.
  • Claiming experience the tool invented.
  • Violating explicit proctoring or employer rules for that interview.

CareerPilot’s Terms and Privacy pages describe intended use. When in doubt, treat the overlay as a private study aid during the call, not a replacement for preparation.
